Refund & cancellation.

How paying for NavWhale works, how to cancel, and when you can get your money back. Short and plain, like the rest.

Free during early access

Right now NavWhale is in early access and every feature is free— there’s nothing to pay, cancel, or refund yet. This policy describes how billing will work once paid NavWhale Proplans begin. We’ll give existing users clear notice before any charges start.

What you're buying

NavWhale Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, billed either monthly or yearly depending on the plan you pick. Payment is collected at the start of each billing period through our payment processor, Stripe. Your plan renews automatically until you cancel.

Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal — you keep Pro access through the end of the period you’ve already paid for, then your account drops back to the Free plan automatically. We don’t delete any of your trips when this happens.

Refunds

Because you keep full access until the end of a paid period, we generally don’t prorate or refundpartial periods after a cancellation — you simply aren’t charged again.

That said, we’re a small project and we want you to feel fairly treated. If you were charged by mistake, charged twice, hit a serious bug that stopped you using Pro, or you’re just within a few days of an accidental renewal, email us and we’ll sort out a refund. We review these case by case and try to be reasonable.

Annual plans

Annual plans are discounted in exchange for paying up front. If you cancel partway through a year, you keep Pro until the year you’ve paid for ends. Refund requests on annual plans follow the same case-by-case approach above — reach out and we’ll talk.

Price changes

If we change the price of a plan, the change applies to your nextrenewal, never retroactively, and we’ll tell you before it takes effect so you can cancel first if you’d rather not continue.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it and email you. If it keeps failing, your subscription lapses and your account returns to the Free plan — no penalty, you can resubscribe whenever you like.
